Good News

I’ve been on a cookie kick. Baking late at night, multiple nights in a row. Scouring the internet for recipes that may help me approach the ultimate oatmeal raisin cookie. After a long and rewarding summer singularly focused on martial arts, I think I might be finding a balance. Fingers crossed.

Do you have a favorite oatmeal raisin cookie recipe? I’m looking for something on the soft/chewy side. The cookies pictured were a slightly modified version of Smitten Kitchen’s Thick, Chewy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies.

  1. They look very appetizing. I used to eat them for breakfast at my favorite cafe when I was in college. They were dry side like scones. I like them dry or soft/chewy.

Did you tell me you were coming to Japan in November???

    • I think you told me, but I forget… where did you go to college again? Was it in the US?

I am going to Japan in less than a month! I think I’ll get to spend a little time in Tokyo, but other than that I’ll be in Noda (Chiba) for most of the time. I have so much to do at work before I leave, but I’m really excited. It will be my first trip to Japan.

  2. i watched 2 episodes of Good Eats last night and both were about oats (i may have had to stop at shaw’s on my way home to buy some!).

alton brown seemed to have a pretty kick ass recipe for cookies and bread :)

    • i’ve heard his are good a couple of times now… i’ll have to test!

    • ooh. i love that he mentions the cherries and white chocolate, because my oatmeal cooking kick was launched by one of the amazing oatmeal cookies of that nature from Baked in red hook. i got the white chocolate chips, but i keep forgetting to find cherries. NEXT. mmm.

    • lilhunny, my coworkers say these are the best yet. will have to post mods and pictures another day, but… yum!
